On February 12, 2026, the U.S Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issued a final rule repealing the 2009 “endangerment finding” and the related “cause-or-contribute” finding for greenhouse gas emissions. EPA repealed the endangerment finding in a larger rulemaking repealing existing greenhouse gas emissions standards for new motor vehicles and engines.
